Challenge

The customer needed a flexible, durable off-highway vehicle platform that could serve multiple use cases - from light goods transport to off-road scanning and autonomous robotics. To enable rapid deployment by its customers, the system required robust control, easy integration, and compatibility with modern robotics frameworks.

Solution

Muon was a trusted partner for the customer throughout the development. Muon delivered:

Bespoke Vehicle Controller and associated software
  • Muon supplied our own Vehicle controller & software – safety capable

Complete Electrical architecture and harnessing
  • Integration of supplied e-hubs, our recommendation of battery systems, off the shelf chargers

  • Full system level design from wires & fuses through to software & code

Linux-based ROS2 architecture for robotics integration
  • Bespoke interface developed to allow future client integration of their own robotics stack straight onto the vehicle platform, without need to worry about how the motion is achieved

Impact

  • Versatile, vanilla mobile platform: Delivered a robust and flexible electric base vehicle that enabled easy adaptation across sectors - including logistics, autonomous inspection, and off-road robotics. The platform's “vanilla” design allowed integrators to build on it without unnecessary complexity.

  • Cost-Optimised Engineering: Achieved meaningful cost savings on the first-generation bill of materials (BOM) through smart component selection and tightly integrated system design - reducing overall spend by several thousand pounds without compromising performance.

  • Ongoing support : Continued to support GoFAR’s commercialisation by engaging with potential end-users to streamline integration projects and ensure compatibility with a variety of applications
